Craniofacial Arteries Flashcards
Vascular system
Arteries —> Pressure, extence elastic tissue carry blood away from heart rich in oxygen
Arterioles—> Resistence, small lumen component smooth muscle with very little elastic tissue
Regulate the flow of blood into capillaries—> vasoconstriction of arterioles increases—> ( total peripheral resistance)control TPR
Capillaries —> Exchange, thin walls of endothelial cells surrounded by basal lamina . So small they’re able to diffuse nutrients and oxygen and have the largest total cross sectional an surface area—> difussion of nutrients and oxygen
Venules —> Transport, they converge of merged capillaries on each other to form veins- converge to form veins
Veins—> Storage, they hold the highest volume of blood and rest and have thin walls blood back y to heart generally Low in oxygen
Exception of artieries and veins Que hacen lo contrario
Pulmonar y umbilical tanto venas como arteries son al revés
Aortic arch
The portion of aorta that exits the heart ( left ventricle)
Ascending supplies head and neck and upper limbs
Descending supplies the rest of the body
