Define dysarthria
Difficult or unclear articulation of speech
Define dysphagia
Difficulty swallowing
What does CN 3 do?
Constricts pupil; accomodates lens, innervates medial, superior, inferior recti, inferior oblique, and levator palpebrae
What does CN 4 do?
Innervates superior oblique
What does CN 5 do?
Sensation to face and anterior scalp, mucous membranes, dura, and innervates muscles of mastication
What does CN 6 do?
Innervates lateral rectus
What does CN 7 do?
Innervates muscles of facial expression, lacrymal and salivary glands, stapedius, taste to anterior 2/3s of the tongue, and sensation to the external ear
What does CN 8 do?
Vestibular: head position, angular and linear acceleration
Cochlear: heading
What does CN 9 do?
Innervates muscles of swallowing; parotid gland; taste to posterior 1/3 of tongue and pharynx, carotid body; and sensation to external ear
What does CN 10 do?
Innervates the muscles of swallowing; larynx; parasympathetic innervation to heart, lungs, and viscera to splenic flexure; and sensation to external ear
What does CN 11 do?
Innervates sternocleidomastoid and trapezius
What does CN 12 do?
Innervates intrinsic muscles of the tongue
