1: Olfactory: smell
2 Optic: Vision
3 Occulomotor: muscles of the eye (most)
4 Trochlear: muscles that control blinking
5 Trigeminal: split into three branches, carries sensory information from the face and involved in chewing
6 Adbucens: moves eye sideways (abducts)

name cranial nerves 7-12 and what there function

A

7 Facial: innervates face muscles eg smiling, frowning and responsible for relaying sense of taste from the tongue

8 Vestibulocochlear: Vistibulo = balance and special awareness
Cochlear = ear (hearing)

9 Glosspharyngeal:
Glosso = tongue
Pharyngeal = pharynx
Motor and sensory innervation for the tongue and back of the throat.

10 Vagus: motor and sensory information of pharynx, larynx and walls of the heart

11 Accesory: extra nerve, orginates from cervical region of spinal cord and ascends to superficial muscles of the neck

12 Hypoglossal: muscles below the tongue to move it
