Cranial nerve 1: olfactory nerve
Sense of smell
Cranial nerve 2: optic nerve
Eyesight
Cranial nerve 3; oculomotor nerve
Controls pupil response and eye motions
Cranial nerve 4: trochlear nerve
Controls muscles in eye
Emerges from back of the midbrain
Cranial nerve 5: trigeminal nerve
- most complex
- both sensory and motor function
- sensation from the scalp, teeth, jaw, sinuses, parts of the mouth and face to the brain & chewing
Cranial nerve 6: abducens nerves
Innervates some of the muscles in the eye
Cranial nerve 7; facial nerve
Supports face movement , taste, glandular etc…
Cranial nerve 8: vestibulocochlear nerve
Balance & hearing
Cranial nerve 9: glossopharyngeal nerve
Allows taste, ear , & throat movement
Cranial nerve 10: vagus nerve
Allows Sensation around the ear & the digestive system & controls motor activity in the heart , throat , and digestive system
Cranial nerve 11: accessory nerve
Innervates specific muscles in the head neck and shoulders
Cranial nerve 12: hypoglossal nerve
Supplies motor activity to the tongue
