A phrase to remember the primary function of the nerves ( sensory; motor; Mixed (both))
“ Some Say Marry Money, But My Brother Says Big Brains Matter More”
I- Olfactory nerve
Pathway from to the brain since it is a sensory nerve>
Olfactory neurons in the nasal cavities send tiny sensory nerve fibers through the cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone of the skull to synapse with neurons in the olfactory bulb. Fibers from the olfactory bulb neurons form the olfactory tract of the olfactory nerve, which runs to the primary olfactory cortex located at the temporal lobe of the brain.
II- Optic nerve
Partial decussation happens at the optic chiasm. After decussation optic tracts
Three nerves that control eye movement
III- Oculomotor
IV- Trochlear nerve
VI- Abducens
Which muscle is innervated by trochlear nerve
Superior oblique
- abduct
depresses
- internally rotates
Abducens cranial nerve VI
Lateral rectus
Where does the v-trigeminal nerve originates and path?
Pons.
It branches to opthalmic, maxillary, mandibular
where does VII facial nerve orifinate
pons
innervate muscles of facial expressions
XI-glossopharyngeal nerve arises from
medulla
- also the vagus (X)
Vagus nerve
Glossopharyngeal nerve
Carotid body
