What are the rights of a child?
A
- to a safe and nurturing enviroment
- to live in families free of violence
- to protection against physical/mental/sexual violence and abuse

What is the practice relating to victims?
A
- All obligations under Victim RIghts Act 2002 are met
- Victims must be given information about investigation within 21 days
- Victims must be kept updated during investigation
- As soon as offender arrested and charged investigators must establish if its a s29 offence and advise the victims of their rights to register on the victims notification register
- Victims must be informed of outcome of case
