- Rib fx w/w/o flail chest

- Empyema (pus b/t lung/chest)
- Active hemoptysis
- Recent spinal surgery
- Sx wound or healing tissue
- Large pleural effusion
- Bronchopleural fistual
- Pulmonary edema associated w/CHF
Superior segments
- Position

- Laying flat in prone, 2 pillows under the hips
- Middle back at the bottom of the shld blade
Middle lobe (right only)

- Esophageal sx
What can be done if a pt. is sensitive to percussion?
Place a towel between them and the percussing hand
