CPR Autonomics Flashcards
What is the equation for BP?
BP = HR x SV x TPR
What is a varicosity?
Synapse between postganglionic fiber and target tissue
What NTs are released at varicosities?
NE or ACh
What parasympathetic receptor type is found on the SA node of the heart? Sympathetic?
Muscarinic cholinergic receptors (parasympathetic)
Beta 1 adrenergic receptors (sympathetic)
Which cranial nerves are parasympathetic?
IIi (oculomotor), VII (facial), IX (glossopharyngeal), X (vagus)
What part of the brain is strongly involved in coordinating the autonomic responses?
Hypothalamus
What is SV?
Stroke volume - amount of blood ejected from the heart with each beat
What is TPR?
Total peripheral resistance - resistance of peripheral vessels
How does sympathetic nervous system increase BP?
BP = HR x SV x TPR
HR: B1 NE receptors increase speed of contraction
SV: B1 NE receptors increase Ca2+ influx for strength of contraction
TPR: a1 NE receptors to constrict vessels and increase resistance
