what are symptoms of CP?
difficulty walking, incontinence, poor coordination, spasms, paralyiss, learning disablitiy, speech disorder, stutter, tremor,
when is the earliest you will see cp symptoms?
2-4 months
when is the earliest a child will be diagnosed with cp

how is cp diagnosed?
neuro exam , MRI looking for white matter, primative reflexes
what meds are cp patietns on?
dantrolene, baclofen, diazepam, and botox
why do cp patietns take botox?
to relax their muscles
what therapy do CP patietns need?
pt/ot/sp
what do cp patients use on their body to help gati?
afo
what fam ed should be given for cp
oral care, g tube feeds, immunizations, rear facing car seat
what is MD?
progressive loss of muscle fibers
what are symptoms of MD?
waddling gait, falls, lordosis, and gowers sign
what is gowers sign?
to sit up from the floor they use their arms to walk themselves up
what is used to diagnose MD?
PCR
what are MD patients at risk for?
infections contractures, obesity, dysphagia
how long do md patients live?
20 to 30
why do md patients take corticosteroids?
to slow muscle wasting
what ed should be given to md family?
vaccines, infection prevention, safety, ROM exercisie
what are side effects of taking corticosteroid?
cushings, hyperglycemia, cardiovascular disease, infection, bone breaks
what is spastic motor abnormality?
occurs in CP
stiff muscles that move spastically
what are some non pharm that can help CF
CPT and PEP
what is CPT?
chest physical therapy
what is PEP?
a flutter device that helps break up mucus
