CP 10 Genetic Linkage Flashcards
TF inactivation of the X chromo can occur
T
when can an X chromo be deavctivated
during embryonic development
what are the 3 systems of genotypic sex determination
- X-O system
- Z-W system
- Haplo-diploid system
what is the X-O system
organisms have Same types of sex chromos
What is the Z-W system
- 2 diff types of sex chromos (XY in humans)
- Way sex is determined is differen
what is the haplo-diploid system
- Egg laid that’s not fertilized = result in male
- Fertilized egg = result in female
what is a chromosomal mutation
Any change from the normal structure or
number of chromosomes in a cell
what is the result of an inactive X chromosome
- Remains inactive for the life
- Results in patches of cells with different active x chromos
what is a nondisjunction mutation + whats the result
- Chromos don’t separate properly in meiosis 1
- 2 gametes with an extra chromo and 2 missing a chromo
what is a mis-division mutation + whats the result
- Happens during second meiotic division
- Produce 2 normal, 1 with extra, 1 missing chromosomes
what is an euploid
Individuals with complete set of chromosomes
what is an aneuploid
Individuals with single chromosomes extra or missing
what is a polyploidy
Individuals with more than 2 complete sets of chromosomes
TF Males with an X-linked dominant trait pass the trait to all of their daughters and none of their sons
T
TF Affected males must have affected father
F, Must have affected mother
