Students were suspended for wearing armbands protesting Vietnam. Court sided with students and said first amendment is protected in schools as long as it doesn’t interfere with education

Man was arrested for critiquing the draft. Court ruled against him saying that the Espionage Act didn’t violate the first amendment.
NY Times V. United States
Government documents were being leaked to the New York Times and Nixon tried to prevent it from being published. Court ruled against prior restraint saying that this violated the freedom of the press — need serious evidence of harm to prevent publish
McDonald V. Chicago
Chicago banned handguns and McDonald said it violated the 2nd amendment. Court ruled that 2nd amendment applied to state and local governments as well, selectively incorporating it.
Gideon V. Wainwright
A man was denied a lawyer and lost a case defending himself. The court sided with him and selectively incorporated the right to an attorney to state and local governments
