- transparency - make the most significant aspects of our work visible to those responsible for the outcome
- easier to be transparent with a small team (ranging between 3-9 ppl)
- a small team avoids mixed signals, breakdowns of communication and unnecessary complications
- critical to the team’s productivity and the project’s completion
- outside of the team, transparency with stakeholders including customers, sponsors and management
- inspection - conducting timely checks towards the outcome of sprint goal to detect undesirable variances
- constant checking in on progress and deliverables to detect undesirable changes
- adaptation - adjusting project, product, or processes to minimize any further deviation or issues
five values of scrum:
- commitment: personally committing to achieving the goals of the scrum team
- courage: courage to do the right thing and work on tough problems
- focus: everyone focusing on the work of the sprint and the overall goals of the scrum team
- openness: team and stakeholders agree to be open about all of the work and challenges with performing the work
- respect: respect the team members opinions, skills, and independence of the teammates
a product owner is:
tasked with ensuring that the team is building the right product or service
a product owner’s responsibilities include:
• continuously maximizes the value of the product delivered by the Scrum Team
• helps the Scrum Team understand why their work matters within the overall goal and mission
• prioritizes the Product Backlog to optimize delivery and value to customers
• ensures the Backlog is visible and transparent to all
• makes sure the product or service fulfills the customers’ needs
a product owners role requires them to be:
- customer focused
- decisive
- flexible
- optimistic and positive
- available
- collaborative
the development team:
is made up of people who do the work to build the product
- team size of 3-9 ppl
- larger teams run into issues such as too many opinions and streams of communication
traits of the development team:
- cross functional
- self organizing: creates processes and structures they believe will help them efficiently complete the project
- supportive
- customer oriented
scrum team:
