Costs and Discounting Flashcards
Affecting the LOS
Use a fixed price per day
Affecting the intensity
Focus on which price should be set on patient level.
Compare time with or without interventions
Is required to capture the effect of the intervention in costs
Time Preference
Used for discounting (rather sooner than later)
Uncertainty in economic/LY growth
- STPR: Social time preference for entire society
Inflation
General upwards movement of nominal price of goods and services over time (GPI).
GDP does this by measuring price level relations to real output
WHO on health threshold
Relates to GDP/capita, which generally grows. Meaning that the discount rate for costs should be higher than for health (Claxton)
But! Look out for reversed causality
