Correlation Flashcards
1
Q
What is a correlational study?
A
A way to test a the relationship between co-variables
2
Q
Describe each type of correlation and what is the coefficent
A
- Positive=As one variable increases,the other also increases~0 to +1
- Negative=As one variables increases,the other decreases~0 to -1
- No correlation=There is no relationship between variables~Close to 0
3
Q
How do you write a correlational hypothesis?
A
There will be (correlation/positive correlation/negative correlation/no significant correlation) between co-variable 1 and co-variable 2
4
Q
What are the strengths and limitations of correlational research?
A
- Strengths=Used when impratical or unethical to manipulate variables/No manipulation so high eco validity/Make use of existing data
- Limitations=Lack internal or external validity/No cause and effect relationnship can be established
5
Q
What graphical representation and statistical test is used for correlational research?
A
Scatter graph and Spearman’s Rank
