A
eye pain
foreign body sensation

what are the indications for referral to ophthalmology
A
- suspected penetrating eye injury due to high-velocity injuries (drilling, lawn mowing or hammering) or sharp objects (glass, knives, pencils or thorns)
- significant orbital or peri ocular trauma
- chemical injury - (irrigate for 20-30 mins before referring)
- foreign bodies composed of organic material should be reffered to ophthalmology = associated with higher risk of infection and complicationa
- foreign bodies in or near the centre of the cornea
- any red flags e.g: severe pain, irregular , dilated or non-reactive, signifcant reduction in visual acuity
