1. suspected penetrating eye injury due to high-velocity injuries (drilling, lawn mowing or hammering) or sharp objects (glass, knives, pencils or thorns)
2. significant orbital or peri ocular trauma
3. chemical injury - (irrigate for 20-30 mins before referring)
4. foreign bodies composed of organic material should be reffered to ophthalmology = associated with higher risk of infection and complicationa
5. foreign bodies in or near the centre of the cornea
6. any red flags e.g: severe pain, irregular , dilated or non-reactive, signifcant reduction in visual acuity
