• draw a line near the bottom of the filter paper with pencil
• spot the ink on the line and put sheet upright in beaker of water
  -solvent will start to move up the paper along with the dissolved mixture ( ink )
  -dyes will move up paper depending on solubility
  -point solvent reaches is the solvent front. mark it with a pencil
