Adds complexity to understanding team behavior and processes
Member diversity
Influenced by the degree of compatibility between team goals and individual member’s goal in terms of both task related goals and relations oriented goals
Cohesiveness
Refers to rules and patterns of behavior that are accepted and expected by members or a team or whole organization
Norms
Members are most likely to enforce norms under one or more of the following conditions
- Norms aid in team survival and provide benefits
- Norms simplify or make predictable the behaviors expected on members
- Norms help avoid embarrassing interpersonal situations
Conformity that exists when a person’s behavior reflects the team’s desired behavior because of a real or imagined pressure
Compliance conformity
Conformity that exists when the individual’s behavior and attitudes are consistent with the team’s norms and goals
