Coordinating Conjuntions
Definition:
Are words that connect parts of a sentence that are grammatically equal or similar. They join two elements that are similar in importance and structure.
Coordinating Conjunctions
They are used to link:
1) two words or groups of words
- I watch movies AND TV series.
2) Two independent clauses
- Susan is going to the movies tomorrow FOR she needs some time to relax and have fun.

Watching drama and suspense movies is my favorite pastime.

Introduce a idea that is surprising considering the information in the first clause. It gives an idea of opposition.

Important
1- preferrably used between the two clauses. Avoid starting a sentence with a coordinating conjuction.
2 - when linking two independent clauses that are not very short, we usually use a comma before the coordinating conjunction.
The movie is a poor production, so it has had many negative reviews .
Mat was afraid to fly, so he decided to go by train.
