LIE low intensity exercise
Eg light jog / any low intensity movement
Gradually decreases heart rate, breathing rate and body and muscle temperature
Increases removal of lactic acid
Circulated blood and oxygen and prevents blood pooling
Reduces risk of muscle soreness/ stiffness
Helps the body transition back to a resting rate
Stretching
Eg hamstring stretch, targeted muscle stretch
Reduces risk of damage to joints
Aids recovery by stretching, lengthening and strengthening muscles for the next work out
What are the factors the need to be considered when planning a warm up/coo down
Size of group
Age/ sex/ experience (expert/beginner) of participants
Individual fitness levels (weight flexibility injury)
Medical conditions (asthma diabetes etc)
