Definition TPFDD
A method to plan out and execute large scale deployments. The computer supported database portion of an operation plan; it contains time phased force data, non unit related cargo and personnel data, and movement data for the operation plan.
SAAM
Saam is defined as airlift requirements for special pickup or delivery by AF AMC at points other than established routes, and which require special consideration because of the number of passengers involved, the weight or size of the cargo, the urgency or sensitivity of movement, or other special factors.

Accommodate movement of small forces Route flexibility Price discounts User/wing/ planners continuity Ability to change cargo requirements CONUS and AOR w/o notice
SAAM cons
User does all planning and coordination with HN AMC manager, MILGROUP
If changes are made within the 30 day window, user losses 10% discount
TPFDD pros
Macom does all the planning and coordination with HN AMC manager, MILGROUP, planning is minimized for user.
Once requirements are submitted, TRANSCOM is responsible for all movement
TPFDD cons
No route flexibility
Price non negotiable
Non feasible for movement of small units
Non established routes
Lower priority given for urgent mission
Aggregation of ULN’s give wide array of dates
Require GO letter for changes
Cargo changes require TPFDD change
Must have a minimum of 100 pax and/or 15 short tons
Penalized for not making weight, risk loss of mission
