What are the contraceptive options w no user failure?
A
- Depo injection - lasts 8-12 weeks, progestogen
- Implant - progestogen, lasts for 3 years
- IUS - progestogen releasing, 5 years, periods lighter, shorter, less painful
- IUD - copper coil, 5-10 years, periods heavier, longer, more painful
- Sterilisation - permanent

What are the contraceptive options w user failure?
A
- Patch - oestrogen and progestogen, lighter and less painful bleeds
- Vaginal ring - O+P, 3 weeks, insert into vagina
- COCP - O+P, reduces pain, bleeding and PMS, not effective if D+V
- POP - P, can be used for those who are >35 and smoke and breastfeeding women
- Male condom - may slip or rip
- Female condom/diaphragm
- Natural family planning

What is Gillick competence?
A
Children <16 can consent to their own treatment if they are believed to have enough intelligence, competence and understanding

What are the Fraser guidelines?
A
- Person can’t be persuaded to inform parents they are seeking advise/treatment
- Understands advice given
- Young person’s physical and mental health are likely to suffer unless they receive advice/treatment
- In young person’s best interest
- Young person will keep having sex w or w/o contraception
