PIC Minimums with less the 100 hours PIC
“High Minimums” - The MDA or DA/DH and visibility landing minimums authorized in OpSpec C054 are increased by 100 feet and 1/2 mile respectively, but are not to exceed the ceiling and visibility minimums for that airport when used as an alternate airport.
What criteria do you need to meet in order for T/O & Landing on runways of less than 150% of the required field distance?
- Landing during daylight hours
- VFR (1,000 & 3)
- T/O visibility of at least 1 sm
- Crosswind of less than 15 knots
- Crew members with more than 100hrs in type
When do you need to use O2?
Unpressurized:
- Between 10k’-12k’ for more than 30min
- Above 12k’ for any duration
Pressurized:
- If cabin pressure above 10k’, comply with above.
- Between 25k’ - 35k’, at least one crew member must wear a mask, unless both pilots have access to quick-donning masks.
- Above 35k’, at least one pilot must use O2.
- Above 25k’, if one pilot leaves thier seat, the other pilot must use O2.
When is an alternate destination airport not required?
If there is a IAP at the first airport and, for at least one hour before and after ETA, the weather reports/forecast indicates that:
- The ceiling will be at least 1,500’ above the lowest circling approach MDA; or
- If no circling approach, the ceiling will be at least 1,500’ above the lowest published minimum OR 2,000’ above the airport elevation (whichever is higher); AND
- Visibility is forecast to be at least 3 miles, or 2 miles more than the lowest applicable visibility minimums, whichever is greater.
When does the Company require an alternate airport (not IFR)?
- Braking action less than “medium”
- Crosswind component forecast to exceed demonstrated limits for aircraft.
- Braking action less than “medium” AND crosswind forecast to exceed 15 knots.
Alternate Airport Weather Minimums
For airports with at least ONE navigational facility providing a straight-in non-precision, precision or circling approach.
- Add 400’ to the authorized CAT I HAT
- Add 1 sm to the CAT I landing minimum.
For airports with at least TWO navigational facilities, each providing a straight-in non-precision approach or a straight-in precision approach to a different runway.
- Add 200’ to the higher CAT I HAT of the two approaches
- Add 1/2 sm to the higher CAT I landing minimum of the two approaches.
When is a takeoff alternate required?
When the departure airport’s weather conditions are at or above takeoff minimums but are below landing minimums.
Takeoff Alternate must be within 1 hour of the departure airport.
Standard Takeoff minimums
Visibility 1 sm or RVR 5000
