Contents of pelvis and peritoneum Flashcards
Pelvic ureter
- *ductus deferens passes anterior to it in males
- *uterine aa. crosses it in females
ureters have no valves and so it passes thru 2 cm of the wall of the bladder before opening, contraction of the bladder closes it off
vascular supply to ureter
common iliac
internal iliac
vesiculodeferential (m)
uterine or inf vesicular (f)
venous drainage is a plexus located underneath the bladder
some goes to internal iliac and some goes to verebral vv.
trigone m.
b/w 2 ureteric orifices
smooth muscle, sympathetically innervated prevent retrograde urine flow remember that the detrusor is PSNS innervated
arterial supply to bladder
superior vesicular aa from umbilical a.
vesiculodeferential aa. (middle vesical aa.) -aka uterine in females
inferior vesical aa. (from anterior internal iliac)
venous supply to bladder
DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO ARTERIAL SUPPLY
venous plexus around base and neck
prostatic plex in males, vesico-vaginal plexus in females
drains with the deep dorsal v. of the penis to internal iliac v.
anatomic anal canal
from level of upper surface of pelvic diaphragm to anus (1-1.5 in long)
clinical anal canal
from pectinate line to the anal verge (1/2in long)
Vascular supply to rectum
superior rectal (from inf. mesenteric) middle rectal ( from internal iliac) inferior rectal (from internal pudendal)
Cruciate anastomosis
gluteal aa. and perforating first branch of profunda femoris
Tubal ligation
can ligate the ovarian aa. but the necessary structures can still receive blood supply from the uterine (from the int. iliac)
Anterior division of the lumbar plexus
IH II gentiofemoral obturator L4 contribution to sacral plexus
posterior division of lumbar plexus
lateral femoral cutaneous
femoral n.
accessory obturator
anterior division of the sacral plexus
tibial portion of sciatic
n. to quad fem
n. to obturator internus
pudendal n.
posterior division of sacral plexus
superior gluteal inf gluteal common fibular n. to piriformis posterior femoral cutaneous
5 major nn from lumbosacral plexus
from anterior:
obturator
medial plantar (tibial)
lateral plantar (tibial n.)
from posterior
femoral
common fibular
sciatic is the tibial and common fibular
