Strong and stable economy
Attracts voters from the AB social class, because they want an economy with minimal change so their mortgages and investments are not affected. . The conservative party gained 39% of the AB vote in 2010 and 46% of their vote in the 2017 election. Raised minimum wage (paternalist policy) increased vote from DE social class by 10% from 2010 to 2017.
Strong and united policies (no 2nd Scottish referendum)
In 2017 they almost doubled their % of the vote and gained 12 MPs since 2015. Popular amongst remain voters and people who were tired of voting.
Brexit: gained votes through Brexit policies as UKIP voters vote Conservative because they believe the Conservatives will get the best deal for Brexit.
Elderly
annual increases in state pension 61% of 65+ year old vote and 71% vote conservative - so policies that the elderly support are important.
NHS available to anyone and everyone that needs it - popular with the elderly who are more likely to pick up an illness or fall.
Education
Want to improve education within the country. This appeals to people from all social classes which is why the Conservatives gained 5.5% but lost 13 MPs.
