Informed
Pt should be given all the information about the treatment including benefits, risks,
advantages and disadvantages.

Voluntary
The decision should be made by the patient alone and not be forced into making a
decision.

Capacity
The patient must be capable of giving consent, understanding the information and therefore making an informed decision.
