Definition of Consciousness
Awareness of the self and the environment and ability to respond properly to stimuli. The level of consciousness can vary between the extremes of alertness and coma.

What is clouding of consciousness?

What is confusion?
Clouding of consciousness. The mental functions show less than normal rather anything abnormal, quantitative rather than qualitative changes. All mental process are slow.
- Cognition: thinking is difficult and it is hard to hold patient’s attention
- Affect : poverty of emotions
- Behavior:noinitiationwithfatigueandlaziness..
What is Delirium?
Clouding of consciousness. The
mental functions show qualitative changes:
- Cognition: hallucination, illusion
- Behavior: Restlessness
- Affect: Anxiety, Apprehension, & fear
What is Twilight stare?
-Other name: dream state or trance
-State of disturbed consciousness in which the patient although not a sleep describes experiences of vivid imagery similar to that of a dream.
What is Fugue?
- Taking on a new identity (different life pattern) with amnesia for the old identity, often involves travel or wandering to new environments.
What is Stupor?
- It is a condition in which the patient is appearing less than conscious ,immobile, mute, and unresponsive to internal or external stimuli, eyes are usually open but’ may be closed.
What is coma?
- Is a state of un arousal, unresponsiveness or is a state of profound unconsciousness
- Extreme case
