Q

What is Jackson’s “Mary Problem”?

A

She’s in a black and white room where she knows all the physical facts.
Leaves the room and sees what it’s like to see red.
Therefore facts about consciousness are not included among the physical facts.

Q

What is the Higher Order theory?

A

It states that you need two things. What. first order representation like perception parts. You see a pen. Then you need another part of the brain (the pre-fontal cortex) says I just saw a pin. This is what consciousness is. One part reporting that another part of your brain just attended something.

Q

What is the Recurrent Processing Theory.

A

Just look at the perceptual parts of the brain for consciousness. You get consciousness when there are feedback loops in the visual perception parts of the brain.
You don’t need activity later parts of the brain are not responsible for consciousness.
