what is subjectivity
personally experienced and not well quantified.
intentionality
focused or directed at things or about something.
unity
is not easily fragmented. if experiencing something, it can usually only be experienced one way at a time
selectivity
attending to certain parts of the world and filtering out other parts

stream of consciousness.

knowing you have a body and that it is your own

understand that you are an indiv who is separate from the rest of the world.

understanding that the contents of your mind differs from the contents of everyone elses minds.
what are executive functions
higher order cognitive processes that control and organize lower level cog processes
what is the binding problem
take in info about a situation. each quality you see is being processed by different parts of the brain. we need to be able to put all partss together to see the big picture
vegetative state
doesnt react to stimulus at all
minimal consciousnes
have moments where they are more lucid but they arent awake
excited conscious state
were in and out of consciousness but have left that
locked in syndrome
have no feeling or control over their body. they can communicate through things like blinking

bistable images
good way to hold preception stable but have multiple experiences
binocular imagery
two different things in the left and right eye. we will alternate btwn seeing that is in the left vs the right eye
resting state fMRI
shows that a brain is more active when not doing anything.
