What are the Human Resources department responsible for?

What is a functional area?
- Teams of employees who have similar skills and expertise.
- For example, a company’s sales department is a common functional area, and the staff in this area would all be focused on selling the company’s products.
What is Human Resources?
•The human resources department is a critical component of employee well-being in any business, no matter how small
What factors have caused employment practices to change drastically since the past?
- decline in trade union Power

What is demarcation?
A process that seperated different types of work and assigned them to members of different trade unions
What are flexible hours?
The employee has an agreed number of working hours.Within this they have core hours(must be worked) and then the remainder can be worked on a flexible basis
What is home working?
Where the employee is able to complete some or all of their work from home
What is part time work?
When the employee doesn’t work a full contact so therefore less hours
What is temporary work?
Employment but for a specific period of time.
What is job sharing?
Where two people share the same job
What is Multi skilling?
The business trains their workforce to be able to work effectively across a wide range of tasks
What are zero hour contacts?
Employees aren’t contacted for any hours so therefore they can receive no shifts for a period of time
What is hot desking?
When a employee doesn’t have a specific workplace within an office.
