A
  • Mainly conservative (advice on good hygiene to avoid spreading infection)
  • If bacterial conjunctivitis is suspected, chloramphenicol eye drops can be used

Urgent referral to ophthalmology (neonatal conjunctivitis can be associated with gonococcal infection, which has significant complications e.g. pneumonia)
