Define informational social influence (ISI)
cogniitve process, when someone chnages their behaviour or beliefs to match a group beacuse they belive the group has the correct information.
Define Normative Social influence (NSI)
Emotional process, when someone changes their behaviour or views to fit in with a group.
What are the three types of conformity
1.Internalisation
2.Identification
3.Compliance
Define Internalisation
When someone genuinely accepts the groups norms. Their values/beliefs have been ‘internalised’ Behaviours remain even in the absence of the group.
Define Identification
When someone conforms because they want to be part of the group. Behaviour may change in the absence of the group.
Define Compliance
When someone publically agrees but privately disagrees. They have not been ‘internalised’ Behaviours will change in absence of the group.
