What are the characteristics of a confined space?

A

Limited / restricted openings for entrance or exit
not designed for continuous occupancy, only large enough to enter and conduct work
Can be classified as permit required on no permit required

A

A space where the hazards are controlled but still present but are immediately dangerous to health and life. Could effect the worker’s ability to leave the space without assistance
Contains/could contain a hazardous atmosphere
contains material that could engulf someone
has a configuration that could someone could become trapped
contains any other recognized serious safety hazard

A
