Conductors, Insulators And Resistors Flashcards
1
Q
How are electrons held in conductors?
A
In conductors, electrons are held weakly so they can easily move through the substance.
2
Q
How are electrons held in insulators?
A
In insulators, electrons are held so tightly that they may not be able to move through the substance at all.
3
Q
How are electrons held in resistors?
A
In resistors, electrons are held tightly, but if enough energy is supplied, they will move.
4
Q
What happens when electrons move through a resistor? What is the energy noticeable as?
A
As electrons move through a resistor, they collide with other electrons and the atoms of the substance, making them all vibrate more vigorously. This is noticeable as heat energy.
