Why are rounds conducted ?
Maintain the sub as a safe functional platform.
Ensure optimum performance of equipment and detect early signs of defects
Ensure cleanliness, safety, security and stowage of the submarine.
Collect data usually in the form of system readings
Checking the jetty is in the form of a visual inspection with the following checks included ?
Cleanliness
Stowage
Crane tracks are unobstructed
Trip hazards
No gaps or defects with jetty guard rails
No unauthorised vechiles
All personnel are wearing hard hats
Fire brigade and emergency services access routes kept clear
Jetty is lit at night for safety and security.
Checks carried out during rounds of the casing ?
Cleanliness
Stowage
Umbilicals
Additional damage control equiptment
Trip hazards to prevent man overboards
When conducting rounds if you see something that’s wrong what do you do ?
Report it immediately
Rounds for explosives carried out how often and signed for where and where do you check ?
Done every 4 hours and signed for in the explosives Log
Checks on:
Pyrotechnic lockers FWD and AFT and includes the oxygen generator cartridge lockers
Magazine and ammunition lockers
WSC
Visual check of all lockers and padlocks is carried out
Rounds of the Battery are carried out how often and what is checked ?
Where are the results recorded ?
Twice a day and a sample from the pilot cells is taken and checked for:
The specific gravity and temp readings
Electrolyte indicators checked
Results are recorded in the battery log
Noise rounds ?
Rounds of the whole sub are carried out to identify record and report ‘noise’
It’s everyone’s responsibility to prevent noise shorts
