Foundation level
The grassroot stage where one is at the point of learning fundamental skills
Session plan
Is an organised description of the activities and resources you’ll use to guide a group
Tactics
Actions and strategies planned to achieve an overall objective (eg. to win)
Technical fundamentals
Something that a person is required to move their body to perform
Technique centred approach
Where skill is isolated and practiced away from gameplay.
Game centred approach
Use full or modified games, allowing participants to perform skills in a more challenging environment
Constraints philosophy
A combination of technique and game centred approaches. Constraints (rules, environment ect) are modified by the coach to promote certain aspects of the activity.
TREE
Inclusion model that stands for Teaching style, rules, equipment and environment
CHANGE IT
Inclusion model that stands for coaching style, how to score, area, numbers, game rules, equipment, inclusion and time
Organisation layout
How a session is structured. Should include a session introduction, warm up, skill development, modified game play and cool down.
Equipment
The items you need to conduct you coaching sessions.
resource
Something you use to achieve an objective- it can be money, materials, staff, articles, information books, a venue ect used by a person or an organisation to function effectively.
Sequence
Refers to how activities, tasks and drills are ordered during a session
Pace
Refers to how quickly you intend to move through the planned activities/ drills during the session
Communication style
A persons unique way of working with another individual to help them improve performance and reach their potential
Behaviours of a coach
The behaviours a coach is expected to display as they are a role model to participants, It includes promoting positive interaction and participation, using acceptable language, arriving on time and using self reflection to improve
Demonstration
A visual representation showing participants how a skill or activity should be preformed and the context in which it should be performed
Non verbal communication
The way we transfer information, through the use of the body language ( including eye contact, facial expressions and gestures)
Head coach
The leader of the program responsible for planning, organising and delivering an appropriate sports activity and programs
Assistance coach
Works under the head coach to make sure players, equipment and facilities are well prepared and organised.
