Input
External hardware devices are usually called this
Peripherals
It houses the hard disk, where all your files and folders are physically located
Hard Drive
Allows you to place input into a computer. Its design comes from the original type writer, which arranged letters and numbers in a way that prevented the type-bars from getting jammed when typing quickly.
Keyboard
This is pretty much the brains of your computer. It processes everything from basic instructions to complex functions.
Central Processing Unit (CPU)
It is a software program that’s designed to perform a specific function directly on a smart phone or tablet
App
This is a small box that allows multiple computers to join the same network. It allows you to connect either wireless or through an Ethernet port to the internet for multiple devices.
Router
It is made up of small memory chips that from a memory module. They can be used to increase and improve performance on a computer.
Random Access Memory (RAM)
It is the study of computers and how computer technology can be used to solve problems.
Computer Science
It is a general term that describes computer programs. Related terms such as programs, applications, scripts, and instruction sets all fall under them.
Software
It is a mobile computer with a touchscreen display, circuitry, and battery in a single device. It comes equipped with sensors, including cameras, a microphone, and a touchscreen display.
Tablet
It is memory containing hardwired instructions that the computer uses when it boots up, before the system software loads
Read Only Memory (ROM)
Small programs or scripts that can negatively affect the health of your computer. These malicious little programs can create files, move files, erase files and consume your computers memory.
Virus
They are all the basic hardware and software that work together to make a program run.
Computing Systems
It is a mobile phone with highly advances features. It has a high-resolution touch screen display, WiFi connectivity, web browsing capabilities and the ability to accept sophisticated applications.
Smart Phone
This is an output device that produces paper documents. There are two types either being ink jet or laser.
Printer
It is a programmable machine. This means it can execute a programmed list of instructions and respond to new instructions that it is given. It is also a device that stores and processes information.
Computer
It is a set of programming instructions, sometimes called a procedure or a function, that is used to perform a certain task on a computer.
Algorithm
It is the main circuit board of your computer and is also known as the “main board” or “logic board” where ROM and the CPU are placed onto.
Mother Board
It is often synonymous with “computer screen” or “display”.
Monitor
This is the process of finding and fixing errors within computer programs, software, or systems.
Debug
It is a executable software that runs on a computer. It is similar to a script, but is often much larger in size.
Program
It is one of the primary input devices used with todays computers. They have at least one button, though most have two or three.
Mouse
It is a small data storage device that uses flash memory and has a built-in USB connection. They are removable and rewritable, and physically small in size.
Flash drive
This refers to the physical parts of a computer and related devices such as keyboard, monitor and motherboard. It is the machines, wiring and other physical components of a computer or other electronic system.
Hardware
This is the software that communicates with computer hardware on the most basic level. Without it, software programs cannot run. Some examples are Windows and MAC OS.
Operating System
This refers to any one of the slots that are on the back of a computer where devices can be hooked up (like a keyboard, mouse, printer, digital camera, etc).
Port
These are the internal hardware parts of a computer.
Components
