What happens at the beginning to trigger the startup process?
A
The power button is pressed, triggering the PSU (Power Supply Unit) to send power to components it’s connected to (e.g. hard drives, motherboard, GPUs)

After the components receive power, what does the computer perform, and what does this do?
A
POST (Power On Self Test). This is a program within the BIOS which checks for hardware failures, and notifies the user - via beeps - if anything is wrong.
