Dominant cation and anion in ECF
Na; Cl respectively
Most abundant cation and anion in ICF
K; phosphates respectively
Normal plasma osmolality
285-295mOsm
elevated effective osmolality leads to secretion of
ADH
Triggers thirst
a. increase in osmolality
b. decrease in osmolality
c. decrease volume
d. increase volume
A
renin is produced by
juxtaglomerular apparatus
renin secretion is triggered by
Renin is secreted from juxtaglomerular kidney cells, which sense changes in renal perfusion pressure, via stretch receptors in the vascular walls. The juxtaglomerular cells are also stimulated to release renin by signaling from the macula densa.
