Q

What are Reuss and Voigt?

A

they are models that help us understand the youngs modulus of a composite
In general, there are two models, one for axial loading (Voigt model), and one for transverse loading (Reuss model)

Q

Why arent metals ideal replacements for bone?

A

their youngs modulus is too large which can lead to stress shielding and therefore bone resorption

Q

Why aren’t polymers ideal bone replacements?

A

way too soft won’t hold the stress of the body

Q

What is a fibre composite?

A

bulk material supported by fibres running through the material, these add strength, think concrete reinforcements
