Who is the playwright
It is the name given to the person who writes the play. They write the script of the play, including the dialogue and stage directions.
Who is a performer
An actor or an entertainer who plays a role in a performance in front of an audience (entertain an audience).
Appearing in a production by acting, singing or dancing. Creating a performance or assuming a role on stage in front of an audience.
What is an understudy
An actor who studies another actors role so that they can take over if needed.
They learn a part, including lines and movements so they are able to take over a role for someone if needed when there is a planned or unexpected absence
What is a lighting designer
They are a person who is responsible for designing the lighting states and specific lighting effects that will be used in a performance. Understanding the technical capabilities of the theatre and creating a lighting plot (with a list of cues.)
What is a sound designer
A person who is responsible for the sound required for a performance. It could include underscoring, intro and outro music and special effects. There will be a sound plot with cues.

They are responsible for designing the set for a performance. They will work closely with the director and other designers

The person who designs the costumes for a performance. Also called wardrobe.

What does a technician do
They work backstage to set up technical equipment such as microphones, rigging lights and other operating equipment.

What does the director do
They are in charge of the artistic element of the production. They will have the creative ideas and will work with the actors in rehearsal. They will collaborate with the design and tech team about ideas.
Overseeing the creative aspects of the production. Developing a concept or central unifying idea for the production. Liaising with designers, rehearsing the actors and ensuring that all technical elements of the play are ready. Giving notes to the actors to help improve their performances and agreeing the blocking (or movements) of the actors
What does the stage manager do
They are in charge of backstage , including the backstage crew. They will oversee everything that happens a backstage. They will make sure all props are found or made that scene changes run smoothly and that backstage is prepared. They are also in charge of rehearsal schedules.
Running the backstage elements of the play and supervising the backstage crew. Organising the rehearsal schedule and keeping list of props and other technical needs. Creating a prompt book and calling the queues for the performance
What does the theatre manager do
They manage the front-of-house was who deal with the audience during the production such as the box office manager and ushers.
