Brecht thinks that theatre can change the world and inspire people. He wanted things to happen onstage that would break character empathy to remind the audience that they are in a theatre to stop the audience from being lulled into an emotional state. Brecht wants to make people think about the experiences and issues the play highlights rather than the characters life. He wants to BREAK the fourth wall to remind and fully implement the fact that they are in a theatre.
