What steps do you take as soon as you suspect intravascular injection?

A
  1. Stop the procedure
  2. Gently massage the area
  3. Apply a warm compress to the area
  4. Give the client Aspirin
  5. Inject hyaluronidase and repeat hourly is symptoms do not ease
  6. Refer to specialist or emergency care if required.

How do you treat an area that you suspect is infected (e.g. warm and tender skin)?

A

Judgement is applied; if severe, inject hyaluronidase and surgical intervention or prescribe (via your prescriber) antibiotics
