Competency - We Take Ownership Flashcards
Explain a time when you’ve sought feedback for your work?
- S: Stage 3 Research projects at University
- T: Had 3 weekly seminars where we had to produce a presentation on the work we had completed in the previous three weeks.
- A: Always sought feedback from my supervisor on how to improve the research I was completing, and also the presentations themselves.
- R: Applying this feedback to the future research and my presentations greatly improved the quality.
When have you willingly helped others and taken on additional tasks to support them?
S: On Dispatch at Tesco.
T: Work in a group of 4-6 people, sometimes with new colleagues.
A: Often reposition myself on the department, from going over to help label up the trollies, to helping retray the trollies which have just been used, I’m always thinking about where I can be of help
R: Improves morale on the department, making everyone feel more of a team. Prevents the department from falling behind.
Describe a situation where you gave feedback to a colleague to help them improve?
S: We had this new member on dispatch recently.
T: They were loading off the trolleys onto dollies to be taking out for delivery, but were stacking them in the wrong order.
A: I approached them and in a friendly manner, informed them that the way they was doing it was incorrect, and showed them the correct way to do it. I then stood by them as they did the next one, just so they knew they were doing it right.
R: They appreciated the feedback, and in turn performed better.
