Competency - We are Innovative and Open-Minded Flashcards
1
Q
When have you demonstrated an openness to changing ways of working?
A
- S: COVID 19s affect on picking, dispatch and Tesco as a whole.
- T: Have to consider COVID-19 in the work we do.
- A: Have had to change the way we work as personal shoppers by giving everyone enough room to feel safe, which may in turn slow us down. On Dispatch, we now ensure we clean all of the trolleys before they’re sent back into circulation.
- R: This openness to change ways of working has led to Tesco being a safer place to work, meaning we can keep providing for our customers.

Q
Describe a situation where you had to provide suggestions to colleagues to make your work easier?
A
- S: On dispatch at Tesco.
- T: Have to load of the trays with food in onto dollies, so they can be moved onto vans.
- A: I suggested that we should always put the dollies the right way round so they can be moved over to the walls easily, and also to wait for all of the orders for that van to be returned prior to taking it over, as it avoids running back and forth.
- R: This technique is regularly adopted by the dispatchers and has shown to improve the rate we work at.

Q
How have you been flexible and changed the way you work, whilst encouraging others to do the same?
A
- S: Working at Tesco throughout the Pandemic.
- T: Was informed by the team leaders that dispatchers were to clean down the trolleys everytime they were finished with, and to also clean the picksticks.
- A: This required me to be flexible and changed the way I, and the other dispatchers worked. Taking a dispatcher off to clean the trolleys and scanners would slow down one side, but was necessary in keeping safe. Prioritised cleaning during quiet phases.
- R: Prioritising cleaning when it was more quiet meant we wouldn’t fall behind, and enabled us to create a safe environment.
