Step 1- assess offer in writing – look full rewards package not just salary. Take time to review and reflect on offer

Step 2- clarify your goals determine what you want to achieve in the negotiation. What’s important to you changes throughout your career and your opportunities to negotiate will increase

Step 3 – Do your research- understand the employer’s needs and expectations for the position. Check out the industry – small or large firm, talk to people, compare similar roles

Step 4- Know what you are worth and prepare your case
