A

Community health is the idea of helping a group by following trends or individual by going out in the community itself.

It can often come down to when we no longer feel as though something is tolerable.

seat belts, car seats, no smoking in restaurants.. etc.

Primary prevention

A

First step in trying to deter people from participating in harmful activities that effects their health - keep the issue from ever occurring.
Example: Try to get kids to wear helmets.

A

Go looking for any current problem in order to treat it and prevent it from getting worse.

We definitely want to try to detect the issues as early as possible to prevent more issues!

Ex: mammograms for breast cancer; it prevents health problems

A

Help someone deal with on going issues of a condition to reduce extent and severity

Ex: Chemo, MOW

Is it the “greatest good for the greatest amount of people”.

  • Policy development w a nursing diagnosis of the issue & implementation of strategies.
  • Assurance to make sure something is ongoing and doing as expected which can also include implementation and evaluation.

A

By asking nurses their experience with certain things, the community was able to figure out a big problem.
Ex: hormones causing cardiac issues

Yes. It is done to protect health.

Ex: Those with TB must accept treatment
