What is the purpose of the ALT-NORM switch on the ACP?

A

Normal operation or degraded (ALT) mode

ALT mode:
-bypasses applicable ACP. ACP is inop
-can only communicate on one radio
—CA VHF1, FO VHF 2, Observer VHF 1
-ACP switches not functional
-only usable radio heard
—preset volume, headset only, speaker inop
-flight and service interphone inop (no hot mic)
-hand mic and overhead speaker inop

—mask and boom mics. MASK-BOOM switch
—yoke and ACP PTT or R/T switches
