Airplane General Flashcards
Which light colors are used to indicate conditions that require immediate and timely attention of the flight crew?
Immediate = Red warning lights
Timely = Amber caution lights
What causes the MASTER CAUTION and system Annunciator lights to illuminate?
-When any caution occurs outside of the normal field of vision of the flight crew except single/simple faults
-remains illuminated unless condition no longer exists or reset by crew
How are Master Caution System indications different for a single channel fault than a dual channel fault?
-Single/simple faults illuminate only on master caution recall by pushing either System Annunciator Panel. Examples:
—Speed trim system
—Mach trim
—Autoslat system
—GPS caution does not illuminate GPS caution if only one fails
-Dual channel faults illuminate automatically
Which flight deck windows open?
-Only number 2 windows (left and right) open.
-Can be opened on ground for evac or unpressurized flight.
-Only right side (FO) can be opened from outside
Are there any speed limitations on aircraft with retractable landing lights?
No
*maybe be retracted climbing/ descending through 10,000 ft to reduce vibration at high speeds, though no damage will occur at any speed
Where are the WING lights located?
Flush mounted each side of fuselage forward of wing to illuminate the leading edge of each wing.
Switch located overhead panel FO side
Which systems can pressurize the Potable Water System and what conditions must be met for the system to operate?
-Pressurized by bleed air from engines or APU at 35 psi, or
-by an electric compressor (main bus 1) if pneumatic system insufficient if
—pressure in tank <30 psi
—water service panel closed
—CAB/UTIL switch ON
—pressure limit switch stops compressor at 40 psi. At 30 psi compressor starts again
*if water tank access panel open/removed electric compressor disabled, however can still be pressurized by APU/Engine bleed
When is 100% oxygen supplied to the flight deck oxygen masks?
When the NORMAL/100% control lever is pressed on the EROS MC10 mask
When the Regulator Control knob is set to 100% mode on the B/E Aerospace full face mask
How is the PASS OXYGEN system activated?
When the PASS OXYGEN switch (aft overhead panel) is selected to on, or
When the switch is in normal and cabin altitude at/above 14,000 ft
*electrical power removed from in seat power system when at/above 14,000 or switch on
How long does the oxygen flow when the PASS OXYGEN system is activated?
12 minutes
What will cause the emergency exit lights to illuminate when armed?
Electrical power to DC bus 1 fails, or
AC power has been removed
*recharge in less than 90 min with AC power applied and switch in OFF or ARMED
Can the aft Attendant Panel EMERGENCY EXIT LIGHTS override flight deck control?
Yes, even if flight deck switch positioned to OFF
What causes the overwing emergency exits to lock?
-A minimum of three of four entry/service doors closed, and
-Either engine running, and
-Aircraft air/ground logic indicates airborn or both thrust levers advanced to takeoff position
*overwing exits unlock when
—any above conditions not met, or
—DC power is lost
