Define: Communication
Communication is the process of a message passing from a sender to a receiver.
State two problems of poor communication.
- Poor decision making due to a lack of information.
* Demotivation as people do not feel involved.
State two benefits to a firm of good communication.
- Can make decisions more quickly.
* Can understand more about stakeholder needs and respond.
Distinguish between internal and external communication.
Internal is within the firm (e.g. with employees); external is with outside groups (e.g. the local community)
Distinguish between one-way communication and two-way communication.
- One-way communication does not involve dialogue and discussion.
- Two-way communication involves information flowing backwards and forwards between sender and receiver.
What is the Examiner’s note for Communication?
There are many possible communication channels within a firm.
