What is a SWOT analysis?
Identifying the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of a project
What is good communication in your view?
Focus on using clear language to ensure my message is accurately conveyed
Appropriate language tailored to the context (e.g. my style of communication would vary between presenting to an IC vs. asking a colleague for some advice)
Clearly identifying the purpose of my communication
When may you choose to use written communication over verbal communication?
Communicating complex information
Want a record of the communication to refer back to at a later date
How would you prepare for a negotiation?
Ensure full understanding of my Client’s objectives and confirm a negotiating strategy with them, including potential areas of compromise
Establish areas of common ground with the other party
Approach the negotiation in a constructive and professional manner
What can be a barrier to negotiating effectively?
Being too rigid – not willing to move from your position or compromise at all
Taking things personally – leads to misplaced judgement and emotions dictating the process
