What is a vector?
A
A form of direct contact but via a carrier organism. Eg. Mosquito

- Touching indirectly - eg. sharing towels, athletes foot.
- Touching directly - leaves touching, tobacco mosaic virus
- Exchange in bodily fluids - eg. Sexual intercourse, HIV

How is skin a barrier to infection.
A
Skin - tough, dead outer layer acts as barrier to pathogens
- sebum on surface repels pathogens - scabs form quickly if cut

A
Stomach - contains hydrochloric acid - kills bacteria in food or swallowed mucus

- Produce antiseptic tears
- Contains an enzyme that kills a bacteria
